Volleyball: Royals Split Weekend at York College and End the Season with a Win

The Royals ended their season with a win over York College in 4 sets.

YORK, NEBRASKA: The Royals traveled to York, Nebraska, to play their final two games of the season against the Friends University Falcons and the York College Panthers on Saturday, November 4.  The Royals fell to the Falcons in 3 sets with scores of 17-25, 22-25, and 22-25, but they beat the Panthers in 4 sets with scores of 25-19, 25-14, 24-26, and 25-15.  The Royals' season record stands at 8-23. 

FRIENDS UNIVERSITY: The Royals played Friends University first on Saturday.  Grace lost the first set by 8 points at 17-25, yet they only lost the next two sets by 3 points each at 22-25 and 22-25.  The Royals had 33 kills to the Falcons' 36 and 63 digs to the Falcons' 64.  Aaliyah Dunbar led the Royals in kills with 10 (.240), assisted by Alicia Pierce with 9 (.091).  Chloe Corbett contributed the most digs with 16; Destiny Vazquez contributed 14 digs and Taylor Thompson contributed 13 digs. 

YORK COLLEGE: The Royals came out strong against York College, beating the Panthers by 6 in the first set at 25-19 and by 11 in the second set at 25-14.  The Panthers tried to recover and managed to edge out the Royals in the third set 24-26, but the Royals responded by winning the fourth set by 10 at 25-15.  The Royals had 50 kills (.218) to the Panthers' 51 (.136) and 88 digs to the Panthers' 84.  The Royals also had 11 serve aces with only 4 serve errors; they had 9 total blocks, including 5 from Becca EntzAaliyah Dunbar led the Royals in kills with 13 (.257), followed by Kara Peters with 12 (.146) and Becca Entz with 10 (.400).  Chloe Corbett had a game-high 30 digs; Alicia Pierce contributed 16 digs. 

This concludes the Grace University women's volleyball season for 2017.
