BROKEN ARROW, OKLAHOMA: The Grace University Royals played the Rhema Bible College Eagles on Saturday, December 9, and won 76-59. After being up 48-21 at halftime, the Royals won the game 76-59 to improve their overall season record to 6-7.
The Royals started the game well, never once allowing the Eagles gain the lead or tie the game. They outscored the Eagles 20-7 in the first quarter. By halftime, the Royals were up by 27 at 48-21; they gained their largest lead of the game, 29 points, shortly into the third quarter at 50-21. In the third quarter, the Eagles tried to come back, cutting the Royals' lead down to less than ten points at times; by the end of the third quarter, the Royals led 63-46. In the fourth quarter, the two teams played each other evenly, scoring 13 points each. The Royals won the game 76-59.
The Royals shot an incredible 50% from the field (29 of 58), including 54.5% in the first half (18 of 33); they also shot 44.4% from the 3-point line (8 of 18) and 100% from the free throw line (10 of 10). Rhema shot 37.5% from the field (24 of 64) and 30.8% from the 3-point line (4 of 13), as well as 41.2% from the free throw line (7 of 17). Grace had 20 points off turnovers, 15 second-chance points, 15 assists, and 47 defensive stops, while Rhema had 24 points off turnovers, 7 second-chance points, 11 assists, and 43 defensive stops. The Royals grabbed 41 total rebounds, 13 offensive and 28 defensive, while the Eagles grabbed 33 total rebounds, 17 offensive and 16 defensive.
All five of the Royals' starters scored in double digits. Darielle Evans contributed 20+ points for the second game in a row with 21 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 steals. Tschida Johnson contributed her first double-double with 11 points, 13 rebounds, and 4 assists. Karen Orozco contributed 17 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 steals. Marisa Brown scored 14 points and grabbed 8 rebounds; Alyssa Strickland contributed 10 points, 7 assists, and 5 rebounds.
Rhema's highest scorer was Whitney Jacobs with 23 points, 7 rebounds, and 7 assists.
