OMAHA, NEBRASKA: Coach Locke and the men's soccer team are proud to announce the addition of incoming freshman Mark Burkett to their roster.  Mark Burkett, the son of Matthew and Dawn Burkett, is from Bellevue, Nebraska.  He graduated from Platteview High School in Springfield, Nebraska, in 2017.  During high school, Burkett played basketball for one year, baseball for two years, and soccer for three years.  He was awarded First Place in the Patriot's Pen Essay Competition for the Veterans of Foreign War.  Burkett attends Calvary Christian Church in Bellevue, Nebraska, and plans to major in business at Grace.

In high school, Burkett played soccer for Platteview High School under Coach Caleb Brown.  During his senior year, Burkett scored 8 goals and contributed 4 assists in 17 games, helping Platteview achieve a winning season after winning only one game the previous year.  22 of his 23 shots were on-goal, giving him a .956 shot-on-goal percentage.

Burkett says he chose to continue his athletic and academic careers at Grace University because of the location of the school and the friendly coaching staff.

"Having Mark on the team brings a wide variety of skills and knowledge to the team.  Being able to play multiple positions is a huge asset to have in the game," says Coach Brian Locke of the men's soccer team.  "I look forward to working with Mark as an individual and team member, along with growing with him personally and spiritually in the years to come."
